Date & Theme set for 2nd Festival

Ogden, Utah (April 4, 2016) — The Ogden Pride Board of Directors is excited to announce that the second annual Ogden Pride Festival will be held on August 6, 2016, at the Ogden Amphitheater on Historic 25th Street in downtown Ogden. The theme of this year’s festival is “Pride Elevated.”

The theme is a nod to the state of Utah’s tourism slogan and to Ogden’s location among the peaks of the Wasatch Front. The theme also evokes the happiness and joy felt by so many after marriage equality was affirmed. At the same time, the theme acknowledges that the stakes are now even higher for the LGBT community.

“The Supreme Court affirmed the right of same-sex couples to marry, and while that was a huge step, there is a lot of work to be done to achieve full equality and legal recognition for people of diverse sexuality and gender identity,” the organization said in a statement. “In many places, LGBT people can still be fired from their jobs or denied housing and services. Because of certain policies, families are being torn apart and children are being thrown out of their homes.”

The Ogden Pride Festival honors all families by bringing together the Northern Utah community to celebrate our shared bonds of love and commitment. The festival will feature family-friendly activities, such as carnival games, face painting and music.
