Ogden Prideโs Mobile Library & Pop-Up Pride Space

Stories matter.
Visibility matters.
Community matters.
The Banned Wagon is Ogden Prideโs newest community initiative: a mobile library and pop-up Pride space designed to bring stories, representation, and connection directly to our community. Housed inside a transformed enclosed trailer, The Banned Wagon will carry a growing collection of more than 1,500 books centering LGBTQIA+, Indigenous, and BIPOC voices, characters, and stories.
In a time when many people are working to erase, restrict, or hide identities and experiences, we believe these stories deserve to be seen, shared, and celebrated. Representation changes lives โ and access to stories can create understanding, belonging, and hope.
Our collection also includes every title currently listed on Utahโs banned book list. We believe that stories exploring identity, culture, lived experience, and truth are important, and everyone deserves the opportunity to access them.
More Than a Library
The Banned Wagon is more than shelves of books. Itโs a traveling community space.
As the project grows, the wagon will serve as a pop-up Pride opportunity throughout Northern Utah โ creating welcoming spaces where people can gather, connect, explore books, and build community together.
We are currently building out the trailer structure, organizing inventory, and creating systems that will help make the library accessible and sustainable for years to come. This project is community-powered, and weโre excited to continue sharing progress as we prepare for launch.
Official Launch Weekend
The Banned Wagon will officially launch during the weekend of October 3rd & 4th at the Ogden Pride Festival.
Festival attendees will be able to:
- Tour the mobile library
- Explore the collection
- Learn about the program
- Sign up for library cards
- Connect with volunteers and organizers
We cannot wait to open the doors and welcome the community inside.
Monthly Library Days
Following launch, The Banned Wagon will host recurring monthly library days throughout the community.
During these events, weโll park the wagon at rotating locations where community members can:
- Check out and return books
- Spend time in our outdoor book cafรฉ space (weather permitting)
- Meet other readers and community members
- Discover new stories and voices
- Engage with local Pride programming
We envision The Banned Wagon becoming a consistent, welcoming gathering place for readers, families, students, and anyone looking for community.
Donate Books
Ogden Pride proudly accepts book donations for The Banned Wagon.
At this time, donations must align with our collection focus:
- LGBTQIA+ voices, stories, and characters
- Indigenous voices, stories, and authors
- BIPOC voices, stories, and authors
We welcome both fiction and nonfiction, and we encourage donations featuring diverse authors, lived experiences, and perspectives that are often underrepresented or challenged.
As we continue inventorying and organizing the collection, your donations help expand access to meaningful stories throughout our community.
Partner With Us
We are also seeking local business partners interested in hosting a Banned Wagon book drop box location or sharing space where we can open our doors, and enjoy reading time with the community.
Partner businesses will:
- Serve as convenient community drop-off and return points
- Host space for mobile library days
- Be included on our official collection and return map
- Be promoted through our community outreach efforts
- Help expand access to books and literacy throughout Northern Utah
We believe community partnerships strengthen community impact โ and weโre excited to encourage our supporters to shop local while supporting inclusive literacy access.
If your business would like to participate, we would love to hear from you.
Help Us Build Something Bigger
The Banned Wagon is still growing โ and this is only the beginning.
With every donated book, every volunteer hour, every partnership, and every reader who steps through the door, we are creating a space where stories are protected, identities are visible, and community is celebrated.
Because everyone deserves to see themselves in a story.
